Hope Academy emerges first in an environmental inter-school club quiz in Buea

Hope Academy Bilingual High School (HABHS) Small Soppo, Buea are winners of an environmental inter-school club quiz competition organised by the Regional Delegation of the Ministry of Environment, Nature Protection and Sustainable Development (MINEPEDED)


The competition was amongst registered environmental clubs of schools in Buea environs, namely: GTHS Molyko, GHS Buea, GHS Buea Town and Hope Academy Bilingual High School Buea. The competition took place at GHS Buea in which Hope Academy emerged first.


Speaking shortly after receiving the award from the Governor of the South West Region, Benard Okalia Bilia on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at Mountain Hotel Buea, the Principal of Hope Academy Bilingual High School (HABHS) Chief Orume John Awoh expressed joy that his school emerged victorious.


“I’m highly elated that the students portray the spirit of hard work. I want to thank the students, teachers and the proprietor for the holistic training to the students who show excellence in whatever they’re doing.” Chief Orume John said.


He added that the students have shown to the public that Hope Academy practises holistic excellence: intellectually, morally and physically.


Chief Orume John revealed that the environmental club was created during the second term this year and is dominated by form two students.


“We use this opportunity to thank those teachers who sacrificed their time in being part of the training of our students, and the parents and wider community for their continued partnership with Hope Academy. Thanks be to God for his blessings.” The school proprietor, Prof. Rev. Julius Esunge said.
