The over 400 newly admitted students of the Higher Institute of Business Management And Technology, HIBMAT Buea, have been challenged to shun all forms of academic malpractices in campus. The call was made by the President of HIBMAT, Jude Chilaka.

He urged new students to set high academic and moral standards for themselves by making optimum use of all the extra-curricular opportunities at the institution. “Some of the most valuable lessons you will learn in HIBMAT will be outside the classroom, notably, during study visits, internships, sporting activities and the many students’ organisations available,” he said. He cautioned the students to shun cheating during examinations because such will be tantamount to suspension or dismissal. “You should plan to use your time in HIBMAT purposefully and constructively. Don’t allow yourselves to be distracted from finishing your studies on time. “Don’t allow yourselves to be deceived into taking alcohol and drugs for they will destroy you. Be very careful and watchful with the kind of groups or associations you join here in Buea, because there are so many cult groups around.
