FEDO Douala branch extends condolences to Limbe over August 5 flood, landslide

The Fako Elite Development Organization (FEDO) Douala Branch, has sent a letter of condolence to His Royal Highness Ikanea, Paramount Chief of Limbe, following the tragic landslide and severe flooding of Wednesday, August 5, 2026 that killed a pregnant woman and two of his relatives in Limbe.


In the letter signed by Dr. Sango / Notable / Mola Chris Yok President of FEDO Douala Charter, the organization expressed "profound sorrow and heartfelt condolences" over the loss of lives and widespread devastation caused by the disaster.


Message of Solidarity


FEDO said it joins bereaved families in Limbe in mourning, and stands in solidarity with all those affected. The organization extended sympathies to the Paramount Chief, the bereaved families, the injured, and all whose homes, livelihoods and lives have been impacted.


The letter described Limbe as a city known for its resilience, courage, and unity*, expressing confidence that with the efforts of traditional authorities, government institutions, emergency services, humanitarian organizations, and the global Fako community, the city will *recover, rebuild, and emerge stronger.


Call for disaster preparedness


FEDO also highlighted the need to strengthen disaster awareness, environmental protection, sustainable urban planning, and climate resilience* to safeguard communities from future disasters.


The organization pledged its availability to support the kingdom where possible and prayed for eternal rest for the departed, healing for the injured, and strength for those working to restore affected communities.
