The Senior Divisional Officer (SDO) for Fako Division, Engelbert Viang Mekala, has expressed satisfaction with the turnout of teachers, students, and pupils for the start of the new academic year in Fako Division on Monday, September 8, 2025.

Despite threats and boycotts from anonymous persons on social media, classrooms were active, and staff were present on the first day. "Globally, I will say I'm satisfied compared to last year's school resumption,"

"We expect everyone to be present in school. I must say, I'm overwhelmed with the presence of teachers, students, and pupils today." Viang Mekala said.

He assured parents and the school community that adequate security measures have been put in place to guarantee the safety of children and teachers. "They shouldn't be afraid; there's no reason to be afraid. We have hope that from today and in the days ahead classes will be full. We're optimistic about good results." Viang Mekala added.

He cautioned students against drug abuse, citing intelligence reports of rampant consumption of drugs by students in Limbe municipality. He urged school management to control this situation and parents to send their children back to school.
