Fako SDO declares Mokeba Farms, Mbende as risk zones

Following the landslide of Wednesday, August 5, 2026 at Mbende in Limbe I Sub Division, that killed a pregnant woman and two others, the Senior Divisional Officer for Fako, Viang Mekala, has declared Mokeba Farms and the area Behind Deeper Life Church at Mbende as risk zones.

In a letter dated Friday August 7, 2026, addressed to radio stations in the South West Region, the SDO instructed that the information be broadcast in English, French and Pidgin.

The SDO urges all inhabitants in the two areas to permanently evacuate within 2 week.

He also announced that all construction activities are hereby prohibited and all ongoing works should be stopped with immediate effect.

The SDO warned that failure to comply will attract severe administrative sanctions.

This comes amid forecasts of imminent heavy rains in the period.
