FAKLA loses young, vibrant member, Barrister Kungah Ngassa

Fako Lawyers Association ( FAKLA) is still in bewilderment following the passing away of it member, Barrister Kungah Ngassa Edwin on Friday, November 7, 2025, at Buea Regional Hospital Annex (RHAB) Buea.
Kungah Ngassa, Fako based Lawyer of the 2020 Ben Muna batch of professionals. He resides in Limbe and took oath on Friday, July 17, 2020 at the South West Court of Appeal.
According to information KNews gathered, he was hospitalised for weeks and was kept at the intensive care unit ICU. Despite all attempt by medics to rescue him. He gave up the ghost on Friday, November 7. His corpse is currently at the Limbe Regional Hospital mortuary pending burial arrangements.
Reactions from late Barrister Kungah Ngassa’s legal peers
Speaking to the KNews, Bar Council member, Barrister Asoh Ebi Epey says, he was very good goalkeeper fondly called Bernard Lama. He was goalkeeper for Fako Lawyer’s Association (FAKLA) football team.
He added that the young lawyer was so good at the goal post. “We played a football match at Njalla Quan Sports Academy field with our colleagues from Douala about the year 2015”,
“He was so good that our colleagues from Douala accused us of using a First Division Football goalkeeper. Ngassa had to show a picture of him in his wig and gown to convince them that he is a lawyer. He was a LION.”
On his part, the Vice president of the General Assembly of the Cameroon Bar Association, Barrister Edward Lyonga Ewule expressed deep sorry for his death “It is with profound sorrow and a deep sense of loss that we mourn the passing of our dear colleague and friend, Barrister Ngassa Edwin, who was called to eternal rest on November 8th, 2025,”
“Edwin was more than just a name on the roll of advocates; he was a bright and dedicated legal mind, called to the Cameroon Bar in 2018”,
“His successful completion of the demanding two-year in-chambers training was a testament to his resilience, intellect, and unwavering commitment to the noble profession of law. As a practicing lawyer based in Fako, precisely in Limbe, he served his clients with diligence and integrity, earning the respect of all who worked with him.” Barrister Edward Lyonga said.
He added that beyond the courtroom and the legal briefs, Edwin was a family man. He leaves behind a beautiful wife and two young children, who were the center of his world. “Our hearts break for them, and we pray they find solace in the wonderful memories he created”,
“The legal community in Fako and Cameroon as a whole have lost a rising star, and we have lost a brother. His absence leaves a void that will be deeply felt. May his soul find perfect peace and eternal rest in the arms of the Almighty.” He added.
On his part, Barrister Baiye Mbi Etchu of Ebai law firm Limbe said, “I am so saddened by the loss of Ngassa Kungah, the legal profession is bereaved and young lawyers are touched”,
“He was an erudite gentleman and fearless before injustice. Court Halls will never forget his thunderous voice.”
