FAKLA joins peers to abandon court room, decry brutality by security forces

Lawyers in Cameroon enter day two today of their sit-down strike. The sit-down strike began yesterday, Wednesday March 5, 2025 nationwide due to brutality by security forces as indicated by the Bar Council president Batonnier Mbah Eric Mbah in a communique dated Tuesday, March 4.


According to reports, yesterday’s sit-down recorded a huge success nationwide. Lawyers in the South West Region of Cameroon joined their peers across the nation in observing the 3-day sit-at-home strike action.


The president of Fako Lawyers Association, FAKLA, Barrister Nouvelliza Eta-Besong Njiminoh opined that the State of Cameroon can do better regarding this rate of violence orchestrated by uncivilized men in uniform. She Cited some instance where such brutalities has been recorded.


“Lawyers in this part of the country welcome this sit-at-home strike action While waiting for concrete measure to be taken by government in order to address this matter”She added.


At press time, the different court houses in Region remains either closed or void of lawyers, the men and women in black robes and wigs are sending a strong message for adequate responses to be dish-out from the powers that be in the country.
