BY SIMON NDIVE KALLA The academy year, which started in September for those in Secondary levels and October for those in Universities but, it was not joyful and exciting for vulnerable children from the North West and South West Regions.
It is in this light, Etombi Foundation, a Non-profit Organisation concerned with providing sustainable healthcare and education solutions to the underprivileged in Cameroon, doled out scholarship to 93 needy and deserving students mainly secondary schools and few University students on Friday October 29, 2021 at GHS Limbe. The Chief Executive Officer of Etombi Foundation, opined, the power of an educated mind in this 21 century can not be overemphasised and President Paul Biya wants to see Cameroon get into vision 2035 an emergent nation. “We have to achieve emergence by 2035 the education of the youths is very important. We cannot build the Cameroon without an educated population” Mrs Etombi Naomi said. With goal to provide scholarships and health care to the under privileged Cameroonians. “It is completely disheartening that several innocent children lost their lives while seeking a good education in the schools, due to the sociopolitical crisis that has been going on.” Naomi lamented. Etombi Foundation which started like a dream, but today is turning out like a giant project touching the lives of Cameroonians through foreign education and health care services. In her welcome statement the first Assistant City Mayor of Limbe City Counci, Karine Moto Tanga said Etombi Foundation stood the gap to help in this trying time were peace and harmony is not the order of the day. “Since the start of the sociopolitical crisis in 2016 that has plunged North West and South West into unrest and insecurity many families including thousands children have been forced to flee their homes and villages to a safer home.” “Limbe has always been a safer home to the needy, and with its welcoming spirit has brought comfort to the vulnerable thus this ample opportunity brought to us by the Etombi Foundation has brought all population closer by always listening to their cries and to provide comfort.” Karine Tanga explained. She however applauded Etombi Foundation and urged others to emulate and equally the Minister of Social Affairs for personally attending the event, which shows her concern on how the students in North West And South West are copping with the crisis. Appreciating Etombi Foundation, the beneficiary’s spokesperson Kenah Kingsley Wung said; we are very glad for the privilege of having this scholarship, Etombi Foundation have really come to our aid on time. Wung opined, the scholarship will help us alot and the role it will play on our academic life cannot be over emphasised. He pledged to do everything to put studying as priority in order to succeed in their exams, be it, promotion exam or public exams. In her remarks the Minister of Social Affairs Madam Pauline Irene Nguene said, echoed the Head of State political option for social justice, equity and national solidarity by designating her to represent him for the event. Nguene appreciated, Etombi foundation for marvelous work they are doing to encourage education in the restibe North West and South West Regions which falls in line with social policy of the Head of State.

“In social context characterised by frustrations misunderstandings, conflicts and barriers, the best response that the Head of State is inviting us to implement is intercommunity dialogue, social inclusion and living together. social context.”
“The present award of scholarships to the needy children and assistance to vulnerable members of the community is part of that presidential response.The well-being of all is indeed everyone's concern. The same is true for the defense and protection of the rights of the most vulnerable.” Irene Ngunge explained.
She urged the students to redouble their ardor at work to be enduring in effort and diligent in school, be good kids at home and great students in school, be respectful of laws and regulation and the institution that embody them.
The Social Affairs Boss, instruct the Ministry of Social Affairs to provide these children and their families with all the psychosocial support necessary for their stability and harmonious development.
Nguene however launched a call for more solidarity and social inclusion in favor of socially vulnerable children of the South West and North West Regions.
