BY SIMON NDIVE KALLA

Chief Achia Nawango Mandfred of Ekondo-Titi who doubles as State Counsel of Buea has offered financial assistance to survivors of Ekondo-Titi school massacre.

He made this humanitarian gesture on Thursday November 25, 2021 at the Limbe Regional Hospital.

According to Chief Achia Nawango Mandfred, as the new second class Chief of Ekondo-Titi an incident like this can not happen in his Chiefdom and he stay indifferent. “So when the incident reached me Wednesday, I decided that I must come down to the hospital to see the victims and sympathise with them as the chief of ekondo Titi.

Quizzed what actually happened he said; “well from the information I gathered from the Divisional Officer, Abeloa Timothe, I hear there are about five deads I may not actually be accurate, but I just discovered now that there are four in the hospital, one male and three females.”

“We are on calls despite some little challenges coming from some irresponsible hoodlums. We are breaking grounds, is just a matter of time, we shall land safely. So Ekondo-Titi, we should have confidence and trust in the Chiefdom of Ekondo-Titi, Ekondo Titi Chiefdom is moving ahead” Chief Achia Nawango stated.

He explained that the children were in school for classes and unknown people who dressed like military surfaces from no where and attacked them.

Meanwhile the military, from what the D.O told him were on their way to GBHS as usual, where they usually ensure that there is security but unfortunately before they could arrive, the guys have done their worst and escaped.

“It is a very sad incident it's so unfortunate. The Ekondo Titi Chiefdom weeps. We are really weeping because the surrounding villages of Ekondo-Titi Subdivision depended alot on GBHS Ekondo-Titi which was now like a mother school where most people had send their children to acquire education. It is a pity and is unfortunate.” Chief Achia Nawango lamented.

Speaking to reporters one of the survivor whose name we held for professional reasons said “We were in class, writing test, but not all the students were in class at the time.

Suddenly our physics teacher came in. Two minutes later shooting started, he ran away. We were inside the class, we wanted to follow him as we opened the door, we discovered that they threw a bomb, so we decided to lay down, before the unknown man who was holding a gun entered the class and shot the ceiling.

And I was bleeding in the class continously. About five minutes when they left we all ran away.” He narrated.
