A 28-year-old driver, Jean Daniel, was taken into police custody on Thursday, March 20, 2025, after holding his employer hostage in Yassa, Douala, Cameroon.

Daniel claimed his employer had consistently failed to pay his monthly salary of FCFA 60,000. Frustrated and desperate, he blocked his employer's car and refused to let him leave until the debt was settled.

The situation escalated when the employer denied owing Daniel any money, prompting the driver to physically attack him in front of a gathered crowd.

Both men were arrested and taken to the custody, where they were interrogated and later released on bail.

Before their release, Daniel received his outstanding salary. Daniel has since severed ties with his former employer, describing their working relationship as "traumatic" and stating that he would rather be jobless than work with someone who mistreats him.
