The Cameroon International Tourism Fair(CITF) organizers have paid glowing tributes to Late Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, former Nigerian Consul General for Southwest and Northwest regions who died in mid 2025 after a brief illness.

The memories of the seasoned diplomat were remembered during a tree planting exercise that took place on Monday March 16, 2026 in Botanic Garden, to mark the 5th edition of the Cameroon International Tourism Fair.

Before the exercise to plant the close to 20 trees, with one dedicated to the memory of the late Consul General, Ambassador Coker, the promoter of the Fair, Agatha Iyok traced the huge encouragement from neighboring Nigerian tour operators who are already in Cameroon to support the event.

She also saluted the smooth collaboration that has been between the Consulate and the Cameroon International Tourism Fair.

The tree planting exercise is coming few weeks after the new Consul General, Ambassador Ojo Olobode Steve recently presented his exequator to South West Governor,Bernard Okalia Bilai.

Should be noted the new Consul General, Amb Ojo Olobode Steve was appointed in Nov 2025 to replace his predecessor, Late Amb. Taofik Obasanjo Coker who arrived Cameroon in May 2024 and later died in August 2025.

The gesture by CITF and the Friends of the Garden was warmly received by staff of the Consulate in Buea.
