The President of the Republic of Cameroon, Paul Biya is among 26 foreign state and government leaders to attend China's Victory Day (V-Day) military parade in Beijing on Wednesday, Sept 3, 2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the victory in the Chinese People's War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression (1931-45) and the World Anti-Fascist War.
Among the invited heads of state and government leaders, Cameroon’s President Paul Biya received an official invitation from Chinese President Xi Jinping, according to an announcement made on Thursday, August 28 by Chinese Foreign Minister Hong Lei.
This recognition reflects Cameroon's special diplomatic status in Sino-African relations. Besides Paul Biya, only two other African heads of state are on the guest list: Denis Sassou Nguesso of Congo and Emmerson Mnangagwa of Zimbabwe.
On the international front, China is also expecting the notable presence of controversial figures such as Vladimir Putin (Russia), Kim Jong Un (North Korea), and Alexander Lukashenko (Belarus).
This celebration has a double significance for China, which wants to assert its role as a victorious power during the Second World War and strengthen its strategic alliances on a global scale, particularly with certain African countries.
