Tiko Chief’s conference gets new executive as HRM Makunde Dipoko Daniel vows to restore dignity and unity

The Tiko Chief’s Conference has a new Executive Bureau, with HRM Makunde Dipoko Daniel, Second Class Traditional Ruler of Missaka Chiefdom, elected as President.

He was installed alongside his five-man executive and four advisers on Friday, September 25, 2026, at the Conference Hall of the Tiko Subdivisional Office.

The ceremony was presided over by the Assistant Divisional Officer for Tiko, alongside the First Deputy Mayor of Tiko Council, Hon. Efite Andrew, with the Paramount Ruler of Tiko Chiefdom, HRM Nango Mwaimbe, giving his blessings for the exercise.

President vows to stamp presence of Chiefs conference

In his inaugural speech, the new President, HM Chief Makunde Dipoko said the institution has gone through many ordeals. "The chieftaincy institution, particularly the Tiko Chiefs' Conference, has gone through a lot of ordeals.

“Many people even wonder whether it does exist or not. And we decided this time around to stamp our presence," HM Chief Makunde Dipoko said. He outlined a vision of inclusivity and shared responsibility.

"The vision I have for the chieftaincy is to be able to lead us to the place where everyone matters, to the place where everyone benefits. I respect the contributions of everyone, because like the saying in Douala: 'Dia di wodi, makaka di bomba' — one hand cannot tie a bundle." HM Chief Makunde Dipoko said.

On the mandate, he clarified that it is two years and non-renewable. "We have a mandate of two years, non-renewable. After two years, I must hand over to the next person, and the relay continues.

Handing over is not like going to sleep; it is just putting my hands on the next shoulder, pushing it forward." HRM Makunde vowed that no chief will be left to fight alone, promising to defend the honor of the institution.

“We intend to stamp the presence of the Tiko Chiefs Conference in the heart of Tiko. Your problem is our problem, and our problem is your problem. We won't let one chief be dragged around while others sit and watch.

“One person's fight is going to be the fight for all. And we will do all to restore our honor and dignity that has been so much dragged to the mud." He described his election as a paradigm shift for Tiko chieftaincy.

“Chieftaincy in Tiko Subdivision is going forward. It's experiencing a new leap. It's a paradigm shift altogether, a new dynamic where we'll take care of even the poor, the widows, the orphans, the children, the students, the parents, and all administrators”,

“We are going to be the true fathers of Tiko." He thanked his peers for the trust reposed in him: "I want to thank my peers for having the confidence in me, for seeing some worth in me, and for electing me to be their president”,

”For me, it is not just a thing of pride; it is a huge responsibility. With the help of God Almighty and the support of my peers, we will be able to achieve greater impact." HM Chief Makunde Dipoko said.
