Limbe I Council offers over 120 school pupils with scholarships
Some 120 pupils drawn from different primary schools across the Limbe I Municipality left the Council premises, on Friday, October 16, 2026, with smiles on their faces.
Their faces were lit up following the offer of financial scholarship support by the Mayor of the Limbe I Council, Florence Eposi Mbwaye.
The Mayor stated during the scholarship presentation gathering that the financial envelope given to each recipient was meant to help parents send their kids to school without much stress.
"I know things are hard. But I want to plead with the parents that when we give this little token for these children, please put it to good use so that the children will not stay at home," the Mayor said.
The Mayor was assisted during the scholarship ceremony by the Chairperson of the Education Committee of the Limbe I Council, Mrs. Eyere Takor.
Mrs. Takor, a retired teacher and former Principal of GHS Limbe, thanked the Mayor for deciding to assist the pupils' education despite the financial strain on the Council.
She echoed the Mayor's call by advising parents to invest the money in their children's education.
"For the past two years, our council has not been able to do this because the liquidity was not stable. So, I am amazed that our Mayor was even able to offer these scholarships this year. So, parents, when you take this little token, use it for the children's school needs," the Education Committee Chair said.
"We are thankful to the Lord Mayor and her collaborators that they were able to put this package aside to honour our children who are in need," Mrs. Takor added.
She equally used the occasion to advise parents to do more to assist their children at home with their school assignments so as to help them improve in their education. "The children are our children, so we must train them the way we want them to grow up," she said.
One of the parents, *Chu Constance*, speaking on behalf of her recipient son, *Kai Promise Tem*, thanked the Mayor and her Council for the offer.
She said they were IDPs who fled from Bamenda to Limbe for safety from the insecurity crisis still raging in the North West and South West Regions.
She noted that she was immensely grateful because things have not been easy for her, which is why she said the assistance will help her significantly.
"I am very happy and thankful to the Mayor because this envelope will help reduce part of the burden I have been facing to send my son to school."
Nine-year-old Kai Promise Tem, who is a Class Six pupil of Government School Bosumbu, said "I feel happy that the Mayor has helped me. The money they gave me will help me with many things in school."
It is worthy to note that the Limbe I Council, thanks to the enormous achievements of Mayor Eposi Mbwaye, is being recognized amongst the best managed in the South West and Cameroon as a whole.
By dint of her successes, Mayor Eposi Mbwaye was this 2026 distinguished during the Golden Stars Awards as the "Best Female Mayor in Cameroon" for 2026!
