Newborn care and safety are activities and precautions recommended for new parents or caregivers. It is an educational goal of many hospitals and birthing centers to promote newborn care and safety.

It’s in this light that nurses and midwives from the Esuke, Tomatal, Mabeta Njanga and Bimbia aid post have been drilled on the essence of newborns care, following new guidelines implemented by the Ministry of Public Health.

This training took place during a monthly meeting held on Tuesday January 28, 2025 at the Moliwe Clinic, organised by the nurse incharge Fondi Concilia.

According to Fondi Concillia a total of 17 participants were trained on techniques to resuscitate newborns experiencing breathing difficulties, using Suction Pumps and Ambu bags.

“This training emphasised the critical importance of the first minute after birth, referred to as the ‘Golden Minute’ which is crucial for the newborn’s survival” Fondi Concillia said.

She urged her peers to remain diligent in their duties and to prioritize patience in their work.
