Meeting on Wednesday January 8, 2025 in Cairo to review the appeal filed by the Association of Cameroonian Football Clubs against the president of the Cameroonian Football Federation, the CAF disciplinary committee has reportedly dismissed the case, according to Bruno Bidjang of Vision 4.
Following the verdict issued by CAF’s disciplinary jury on July 4, 2024, the Association of Cameroonian Football Clubs had appealed for a thorough investigation into the allegations against Eto’o.
They accused him of match-fixing and manipulation in Elite One championship and argued that the $200,000 fine imposed for breaching rules of ethics, fairness, and sportsmanship was insufficient given the seriousness of the charges.
However, their efforts seem to have been unsuccessful, as the appeals jury reportedly rejected their case this Wednesday in Egypt, according to journalist Bruno Bidjang FECAFOOT president assembled a team of four lawyers for his defense.
This decision represents a major setback for Eto’o’s critics, who were anticipating his suspension from all football-related activities and the disqualification of his bid for a position on CAF’s executive committee.
