Cameroonian cultural artist Betondi James to release fifth album

Cameroonian cultural artist Mukete James Nanje popularly known as ‘Betondi James’ says he will release his fifth musical track into the market by the end of this month. He made this revelation during an exclusive interview with KNews.


Betondi James said the launching of the fifth music tract titled‘Mafango’ meaning proverbs in Oroko dialect will be launched in the towns of Limbe, Douala, Yaoundé and Kumba.


He emphasised that, he uses proverbs to advice the public to be cautious on how they go about their daily activities and interactions in society.

Quizzed what pushed him into the musical industry, said he emulate music from his mother who was a leader of choir in a social group. Been in the music career for 15 years he explained that he is doing well in the profession.

One of his major challenges he said is piracy and lack of sponsorship. He appreciated the public for the positive reactions they have been showing towards his product and has called everyone to

massively turnout during the official launch of ‘Mafango’ music track.

Mukete James hails from Betenge Balue. He started his music career in 2011. Betondi James sings Amekoko, Dior and Malleh and other traditional songs from Orokoland which he sings in Oroko dialect. He has gained popularity with his music which reminds its listeners of their roots in Orokoland. “Ngobi” (Lineage) is his most recent song which has caught the hearts of all.

The 43-year-old has performed in and out of Cameroon (he mentioned Nigeria) and has received an award from the Oroko Cultural Organisation, USA, for promoting Oroko culture through music at home and abroad
