Cameroon and Chad will inaugurate a 620-meter bridge over the Logone River, linking Yagoua in Cameroon's Far North region with Bongor in Chad today Monday, April 28, 2025. This marks a significant step forward for regional infrastructure and trade.

The information is contained in a communique signed by Cameroon’s Minister of Public Works, Emmanuel Nganou Djoumessi.

“It is my honor to inform you that the Prime Ministers of the Republic of Cameroon and the Republic of Chad will inaugurate the bridge on the Logone River on April 28 in Yagoua,” the Minister wrote.

The bridge project, costing CFA 74 billion, was funded by the African Development Bank and a €40 million grant from the European Union.

The project also includes 14.2 km of access roads and key support infrastructure, bringing the total investment to CFA 92 billion.

The bridge is expected to strengthen trade flows between the two countries, with CFA 350 billion worth of Chadian goods passing through Cameroon annually.

Cameroon’s Minister of Economy, Alamine Ousmane Mey, highlighted the project's importance for CEMAC integration efforts.

With the new bridge, both countries aim to turn improved infrastructure into economic opportunities, boosting cross-border trade and regional cooperation.
