BY SIMON NDIVE KALLA

The Chief of Batoke Village, HRH Chief Molive Molungu Otto, has provided potable water to the people of Ndua Likombe through a support scheme from LUKMEF. The symbolic event took place on Sunday October 3, 2021 at the courtyard of the Ndua neighbourhood .

Speaking during the event, his HRH Chief Molive Molungu Otto, said the event was very peculiar for the people of Ndua Likombe quarter described as “waterfall quarter”.

HRH Chief Molive Molungu explained that, the population had been for long without potable water, and thanked LUKMEF and UNICEF for supporting the realization of the project .

“We are so happy that we have achieved something this year, the population of Ndua Likombe decided to put their differences aside and work for the development of the quarter," he declared.

Welcoming the representative of the D.O, that is, the first assistant DO for Limbe II, Elsie Nanyongo Ebane and her entourage, the spokesperson for Ndua Likombe, Atatch Kingsley, expressed gratitude to the Chief of Batoke for bringing development to the village. He also cited a series of problems plaguing their neighbourhood.

For his part, Leong Sule, who presented a technical report of the project appreciated the Chief for being the brain behind the realization of the project. He cautioned the inhabitants to always keep their neighbourhood clean.

“We are jubilating today, but very soon this stand tap that is shining now will be converted into some people’s kitchen or washing basin, where they wil carry their pots of ‘waterfufu’ to wash them inside. If we notice it the person will be punished," he warned.

Sule revealed that 60% of the project is sponsored by LUKMEF while community covered 40%. He explained that some inhabitants even lost hope that the Chief will realize the project.

Installation of Quarter-head

Chief Molive Molungu said his choice of a woman to lead the quarter was because he realized that women take time to carry out responsibilities assigned to them perfectly than men.

‘We have made her public today to manage the affairs of the quarter, I feel satisfied that my dream has come true because I have been reflecting over who will be the quarter-head. God and my ancestors, I believe they gave me the right choice” Chief Molive Molungu noted.

He also spelt out the responsibilities of the quarter-head, especially being in charge of settling disputes in order to promote peace. Chief Molive Molungu urged the newly installed quarter-head to channel their worries to him.

Chief Molungu advised the quarter-head to have an open mind as a leader with the huge task bestowed on her, and opined that she will encounter a lot of opposition in her decisions, but assured her of his support.

Speaking to the press, the new quarter-head of Ndua Likombe, Eposi Rhoom, expressed gratitude for the potable water offered by LUKMEF and UNICEF through the Chief of Batoke village, and promised to work in synergy with her subjects to develop Ndua Likombe.

The First assistant DO for Limbe II Subdivision, Elsie Nanyongo Ebamu, urged the population to be united and work together for one main goal, the development of the quarter. She encouraged them to work in collaboration with the Chief and also focus on self-development .
