Bamenda alleged separatist fighters shot dead a scoop driver whose name KNews got as Elyse Komta at La Chance bridge in Small Mankon, Bamenda.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, February 4, 2025. According to information from eyewitnesses, who preferred not to be named, Komta was working to clear debris from a collapsed bridge that has been a nightmare for locals.

Our source added that two gun men stormed the area and shot Komta, who died before reaching the hospital.

It should be noted that Komta was a new father, with his child only three days old.

Security forces where deployed to the scene to maintain calm while his corpse was taken to the mortuary pending burial arrangements.

Locals however condemned this act of violence, emphasizing that the people of Bamenda deserve better roads and bridges, not violence and bloodshed.

Our source added that Edge construction company, Komta's employer, has been a friend to the people of Bamenda, undertaking projects like clearing garbage and ensuring roads are accessible.

At press time, no group has accepted responsibility for this inhuman attack.
