Back-to-School: STEM Professional Institute Hits On The Importance Of Making The Right Career Choice

The Management of STEM Professional / Higher Training institute of Douala has emphasized; the importance of choosing a career. According to the Managing Director of STEM Meh Basil, "it is important to choose a right career to avoid the ‘blame game’ at work, self satisfaction, less frustration at work and to live a more fulfilled life".


Meh Basil made this clarion call during a one-day capacity building workshop / seminar organized by his institution on Saturday August 28, 2021 tagged “choosing a career that suits your passion” which was aimed at impacting attendants with knowledge on how to choose a meaningful career that suits their passion.

The workshop was graced by the researcher and Managing Director of STEM Professional / Higher Training Institute, Meh Basil K.

In his words; "STEM is unique in her own way, and we are out to innovate, promote professionalism, creativity and creative leadership skills among our students".

He continued by saying "STEM is not out to compare with other institutions, but we are unique in our own way".


"Leadership is one of our main courses and we don't joke with this course, it's a full and well structured curriculum".


"We are not out to do just the same things, but adding values to what other schools are doing’’ Meh Basil explained.

The researcher and Managing Director, went further to say, students all over and out of Cameroon should be able to choose a career that reflects what they love and their passion.

Citing an example of an artistic person, Basil says “An artistic person will like to work with other artists and will feel happy about it".


Talking to one of the participant, student of GBHS Bonaberi, Lashatou Mengot she expressed her satisfaction, "The seminar is such a successful one. I will urge all youths out there to make their passion their profession. We can blend our passion with our profession and make life easier.’’

She added "we have to leave traces behind, mark ourselves and mark our existence" (George Charisma).

The Career Orientation Seminar/Workshop was very rich with speakers like; Meh Basil K (Researcher), George Chansma (Leadership trainer), Jinoh Jamet B +Pharmacist), Mme Mbain Erica (Entrepreneur) and Jezeh Clive (Influential leader).


They all gave a talk on the various subjects; choosing a career / furthering education, career with purpose, passion vs profession, dealing with your passion and what if my plan A fails respectively.

STEM is located beside Petrolex Ndobo, Bonaberi-Douala and is currently admitting new students into their various programs.
