At maiden edition of Limbe II academic championship tourney:

The Mayor for Limbe II Council, who doubles as the  Chief of Bobende village, HRM Chief Woka Ndive Daniel Ngale I has called for effective back-to-school come Monday, September 8, 2025. 


He made this clarion call on on Sunday, August 17, 2025 during the close of the maiden edition of Limbe II academic championship organised by Ekwalla Yannick.

HRM Chief Woka Ndive, praised the tournament's organisation and encouraged children to balance football with education. 


"We observed a well-organised tournament, and the quality of players was encouraging. It shows that in the near future, if we continue with this type of initiative, we're going to have great stars”,


"We encourage children to go back to school because you can't play football without going to school. I believe children should play football alongside focusing on their studies." HRM Chief Woka Ndive added.


The tournament, which featured U12 and U17 categories, brought together four teams namely; Soccer City, Young Stars, Royal Sports Academy, and Glorious Sports.


In the U12 classification, Young Stars defeated Soccer City 1-0. Royal Sports Academy won against Soccer City 4-1 on penalties in the second match. In the last match, Soccer City defeated Glorious Soccer 3:1 on penalties. 


The organising committee recognised the highest goal scorer, best goalkeeper, best coach, young aspiring player, and best discipline team, among others, with medals, trophies, and cash prizes. They also pledged back-to-school donations in the days ahead. 


In his intervention, the tournament organiser, Ekwalla Yannick explained that he was motivated to organise the tournament after an injury and noticing a coach to coach the children. "I decided to come up with this tournament so that these young children can showcase their talents," he said. 


He is optimistic that more teams will join next year's edition and appreciated the Chief of Bobende, City Mayor Paul Efome L.M Ngale, and the entire Bobende community for their support. 


Ekwalla Yannick also emphasised the importance of education, saying, "I encourage children to take their studies seriously so that as they embrace football, they can express themselves in public."
