For all the enigmatic emcees that Cameroon has so far birthed and nurtured, Amy Banda emerged again over the weekend of June 7, 2025, as the star of the season when (of all the constellations of eminent MCs that Cameroon harbours), the scrutinizing choice fell on her to Emcee the all too-prestigious and once in a year Order of Malta's Charity Gala Dinner at the prestigious Yaounde Hilton Hotel.

As the first and last person to take and leave the stage on that occasion, Amy Banda and Jean Olivier Owona's charisma and level - headedness made the event a huge success.

Accompanied by the emblematic Auctioneer Ludovic Morand from France, the mic couple delivered with passion, credibility, integrity, service and sense of humour.

These ingredients set the intellectual and emotional tone for the evening's successful event.

Visibly satisfied with the expedited manner with which the event was professionally coordinated,

H.E Christophe Heidsieck, the Ambassador of Malta to Cameroon had no better way of approving of Amy Banda's emceeing exploits than to pose for an immortalizing picture with her.

The Fundraiser Chaired by Cameroon's First Lady, Chantal Biya Saw the successful donations and contributions of success stories like Samuel Eto'o Fils, Françoise Mbango and excellencies.

The joyful scenes reach fever pitch when Samuel's Jersey is sold for 20000 000 CFA francs leaving all spellbound.

As if that's not enough, the ecstasy falls on Françoise Mbango whose Beijing 2008 Olympic Games Jersey - Bib - & shoes sold at 5 Million CFA francs.

Like football and handball players who work diligently and day and night from the inferior league through the intermediary to the elite club, impresarios or better still, Emcees go through the same tedious and laborious process to a level of being recognized nationally and internationally.

Chaired by Cameroon's foremost humanitarian and First Lady, Chantal Biya, the event saw the outpouring of who's who in Cameroon's capital city and beyond.

Also present at the Order of Malta dinner night were H.E. Josef D. Blotz, Grand Hospitalier of the Sovereign Ordre of St. John of Jérusalem of Rhodes and of Malta, H.E Christophe Heidsieck, the Ambassador of Malta to Cameroon, Minister of Public Health Dr. Manaouda Malachie, Mrs Niat, Finance Minister Louis Paul Motaze, Governor Naseri Paul Bea , Senator Henriette Sournac, Yah Judith Achidi Achu, Françoise Mbango, Samuel Eto'o Fils (whose jersey sold at 20. 000. 000 CFA francs) amongst others.

Over 30 objects were placed on auction sale, and Samuel Eto'o Fils 2002 jersey alone sold out at 20 million FCFA, the fundraising dinner closed at 66 million FCFA, thanks to the skillfull coordination of the sales Commissioner, Ludovic Morand, the impressive emceeing of Jean Olivier Owona and our very own Anchor Lady and Senior Reporter Amy Banda.

The evening was the more enlivening by the very presence of the French & Egyptian ambassadors to Cameroon.

The auction sales gave way for a classic cocktail at Njombe attended by the Grand Master, Cameroon's Public Health Minister and a plethora of Officials who Can't wait to be part of June 2026 for the 4th edition at Hilton.
