The General Manager (GM), of the Cameroon Development Corporation (CDC), Franklin Ngoni Njie has appealed for calm, extends condolences to victims of Saturday, August 23, attack on workers of the CDC Sonne/Likomba Rubber Estate in Tiko Subdivision, Fako Division, South West West region.

This is contained in a press release he signed on Sunday, August 24, 2025. The communique reads, “The incident took place a couple of minutes after work allocation in the Camp 6 Section of the Estate," he stated.

Ngoni Njie added that one worker who was a Senior Field Assistant and a soldier of the Special Amphibious Battalion in Tiko were killed.

Two other workers were injured and they are currently receiving medical attention at the Cottage Hospital, Tiko. He stated the motive for the attack is unknown. Investigations by the competent authorities of the State to uncover the identity of the assailants are ongoing.

In respect to this macabre and unacceptable incident, the General Manager of the Cameroon Development Corporation extends his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and compassion to the injured workers. He appeals to the entire workforce of the corporation to stay calm, focused, and be vigilant.

Though the GM described the perpetrators of the despicable crime as unidentified gunmen, conjectures are already pointing accusing fingers to separatist fighters in the area.

Separatists have in the past, carried out repeated attacks on CDC infrastructures and workers. Cases of arson, murder, kidnapping, destruction, maiming, theft, looting, were some of the atrocities they committed. Their reason is often related to economic sabotage by paralysing the second largest employer in Cameroon after the State.

By this, separatist fighters believe their actions would force the State to grant their imaginary desire for independence; a thing the government had vehemently declared it will never happen.
