The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), which is scheduled to take place in Rabat, Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026 is set to be groundbreaking edition.

The President of the Confederation of African Football, CAF, Dr. Patrick Motsepe has announced significant changes designed to improve player welfare and elevate the competition’s standards.

For the first time in history, matches will be played across nine different stadiums throughout Morocco, ensuring no team plays consecutive games on the same pitch.

According to CAF’s President, Dr. Patrick Motsepe this changes is aimed to reduce player fatigue and minimize the risk of injuries, allowing athletes to focus entirely on their performance.

Another key innovation includes providing each of the 24 participating teams with an exclusive base camp and training ground. “This tailored setup will ensure teams have access to state-of-the-art facilities, enabling teams to prepare in optimal conditions.” Dr. Patrick Motsepe explained.

These measures highlight CAF’s commitment to improving the AFCON experience for players and fans alike, with Morocco setting a new benchmark for hosting continental tournaments.
