2025 Presidentials: NCC prescribes equal, unbiased platform for candidates

The President of the National Communication Council, NCC, Joseph Chebongkeng Kalabubse has said he expects journalists exercising the journalism profession in Cameroon to offer equal and unbiased space in their organs to all candidates in the race at the upcoming polls in 2025. 


The NCC President gave his expectation last , February 28, 2025 at the esplanade of the National Communication Council in Yaounde as he received New Year Wishes from his staff and media professionals in the country for the year 2025. 


Joseph Chebongkeng Kalabubse added that ‘‘2025 is a turning point for the history of Cameroon as it is an electoral year which goes with numerous challenges. 


We are asking the press to be serene and we want the press to do what they are supposed to do in educating and informing the public. We are counting a lot on the press to pass across the various messages of candidates. 


They must be professional in doing this and they must remain vigilant as to the respect of ethics and the deontology of the journalism profession. 


Journalists should be fair in pronouncement of judgment that comes from actors in the field. 

The NCC will support them and will hit hard on whosoever faults.’’ 


Presenting the balance sheet of the institution earlier, the Secretary General of the National Communication Council, Jean Tobi Hond said apart from the regular holding of ordinary and extraordinary sessions of the council, 2024 was equally marked by the publication of the National Media Map which is a veritable tool for decision making institution. 


He said the NCC also initiated in 2024 the annual report of activities of the National Communication Council and the state of the Social Media Communication in the country which are being completed. 


The SG of the NCC pointed out to the President that all is not smooth as they observe ongoing matter of punctuality, the enduring deficiency in staff attendance and the lack of productivity by certain staff. 


The Secretary General, staff of the Division of General Affairs, Heads of Legal Affairs, Monitoring, Communication Units and media men through a symbolic handshake reaffirmed their commitment to deliver results in the year 2025. 


They then took turns to present their New Year Wishes to the President of the National Communication Council, Joseph Chebonkeng Kalabubse.
