There may be surprises in the days ahead, leading to the 2025 Presidential Elections. This may include an alliance between independent aspirants.

Ndim Jacob Ngong and Barister Asong Michael Khumbah, both independent presidential hopefuls are considering the option.

This they announced following an exchange which lasted over an hour in Douala on July 7, 2025. The talks were initiated by Ndim Jacob, who felt that the independent candidates shared great similarities as young persons and could together rescue the country if they made concerted efforts.

Asong said their discussions had explored possibilities of an alliance, which was in many ways adequate in realising their desire to serve at the Etoudi Palace.

He believed that their determination was already a victory. "Putting strategies together, working together, hand in hand because we believe that together we are stronger”,

That is the type of political environment we want to build, and I strongly believe that with other independent candidates which we are going to meet, probably in a week or two, we will be able to meet up with the requirements for the validation of at least an independent candidate for the presidential elections," Asong sustained.

Nonetheless, they expressed frustration at the electoral process and the conditions for an independent candidacy.

They said the 10 days stipulated by law to provide 300 signatories from all ten regions to validate their candidacy when the electorate will be convened was to be a significant challenge.

"I have visited over four regions already in the last week for mobilisation, and I see it very tough if we do not ally to work together. After all, we have the same goal for the country, to rescue it," Ndim affirmed.

They further argued that the 30 million caution to be paid was grossly a lot to attain, especially for youths like them, considering that a public fund raising drive needed authorisation of the administration.

The laws are designed in such a way to prevent youths and prevent every other Cameroonian from accessing the presidency." Asong said,

However, the two seem to agree that these can be overcome by working together as a team. Ndim Jacob, before the encounter, had paid a visit to the Kingship Deliverance International Ministry (KDIM) at Bonaberi.

He indicated that the visit was to pay homage to its founder, Prophet Franklin Ndifor Afanyu, who was a candidate during the 2018 presidential elections.

Both Ndim and Asong are in their mid-thirties. They declared earlier this year their intentions to be candidates in the October Presidential Elections.
