Yaounde Healthcare week officially kicks-off today

In a thirty minutes press conference held on Tuesday November 7, 2021 at the Hotel Falaise in Yaounde, the organising team of the upcoming Yaounde Healthcare week slated for December 8-10, 2021 in an exchange with the press gave an in depth run out of the three days health jamboree and sensitisation program.

Organised in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health , Pharmpro consulting, AGP. Apero is non-govermental organisation whose objective are to promote good medical values, fight against the illicit sale roadside drugs, the circulation of good therapeutic information and the creation of a solid network of health professionals. And the Cameroon Society of Orthopedic and traumalogy order.


The Yaounde Healthcare week will be a healthy event held under the theme: Non Communicable diseases: Priorities and Solutions for the Nation. The event will be featured scientific conferences, conferences and keynotes, Debates, workshops, sensitisation campaigns and a symposium.


The event has as specific objectives to sensitise the popular on life style diseases such as hypertension, stroke, diabetes and cancer. There will equally be the training of participants on issues liked to bone fractures and general traumatology.


The scientific committee responsible for the organisation of the three days health jamboree has at its helm Professor Mbanya Jean Claude, Endocrinology at the University of Yaounde 1 , Faculty of Medicine. And head of the Scientific committee Professor Bahebeck Jean Traumatology at the Faculty of Medicine UY1.


Speaking during the press conference, Professor Mbanya Jean Claude said; "The three days healthy Jamboree will see the participation of 500 participants, with the holding of 34 symposiums for an hour, 12 sessions of each 60mins meant for practical exercises",


"Adding to the program, will be the holding of 6 sessions for scientific presentations by some reknown experts from South Africa, Gabon and Congo. We thought it wise to give room to our public via the holding of 3 debates sessions and open discussions",


"The E-health innovation will be on spotlight, likewise the participation of the Cameroon Medical Students Association and officials of the Ministry of Public health, whose presences will be to make a résumé of the rate of non-communicable diseases revelance in Cameroon. As well as an exhibition of pharmaceutical films and the latest technological and medicine apparatus."

The Yaounde Healthcare week has as objective to sensitise the Cameroonian community on how to avoid non communicable diseases which are related to with our daily life styles. Some these diseases include mental health, cardiovascular diseases, high blood, cancer, Covid-19 and diabetes because they affect everyone in the society.


All the above mentioned diseases have a common factor which could be the family, tobacco in take, lack of physical activities, mal nutrition, obesity and alcohol consumption.


The health experts shall equally be teaching the people on how to manage chronic diseases such as HIV. And how to manage patients suffering from non-communicable diseases, why Covid-19 vaccines should be taken and the endangers of not taking the vaccine.


The organisers intend to work hand in glove with the media, with the ultimate gold to educate the Cameroonian community on how to prevent non communicable diseases.


Also, educate the school children on non-communicable diseases, which will help to share these values with some of their parents at home.


The official ceremony of the three days health jamboree gathering, some health personnels official opens it's doors this morning graced by the participation of Minister Manaouda Malachi of Public health, at 9:30 am at the La Falaise Hotel.And works are to unfold in the 5 selected halls of the flamboyant structure.
