The elective assembly of the prestigious Victoria club is set for January 2023, following the group's General Assembly held in Limbe on Friday November 25, 2022.

Elections into the board were delayed due to the incomplete number of Patrons needed to oversee the electoral process.

Six members vied for three seats to complete the electoral college, with Tambe Takang Stephen picking up 59 votes, Ndumu Vincent came second with 51 votes and Mbako Aloysius 36 votes.

Speaking after the election, Tambe Takang said outcome wasn't surprising to him.

”I expected this position long ago because I have been one of the oldest club members since 1981. I have held the position of Bar Secretary for 12 years.

"I have been contributing for the development of the club, I brought three flat screen TVs, a generator and also contributed to buy air condition among others for the growth of this club," Tambe Takang explained.

He opined that his voting into office as a patron member is timely. Tambe Takang thanked all those who voted for him, saying is a mark of recognition.

“My vision is for us to work in the club. The club has deteriorated so much. We have to do so many things to upgrade it.

"You know we have swimming pool, tennis court but we have never put it to the level that it can be use.” Tambe Takang said.

In his intervention, Dr. Mbako Aloysius said, as an old member of Victoria club, he is happy to have been selected as one of the patrons.

“I want to say I’m the ‘female candidate’ here. I want the women to stand in any form of elections in the club. They shouldn’t be push down by male chauvinism. So, I’m the female candidate to this club. Gather them all and bring them for my support.

The patrons will temporarily manage activities of the club until a new executive body is voted into office.

Meanwhile, the outgoing President Barrister Forchack Valentine applauded his team despite the challenges faced. He urged the incoming executives to continue from where they ended.
