NGO paves back-to-school 2021/2022 in Tole

As back to school narrows down, A non- profit-making organisation, NGO known as Association for the protection of Women’s and Children’s rights, APWCR on Saturday, August 28, 2021 donated school bags, exercise books, pencils, rulers, erasers to 100 identified vulnerable children in Tole Village in Buea Subdivision, Fako Division, South West Region Cameroon.

The beneficiaries included 5 Nursery I, II 19 children in class I, 18 in class 2, 18 in class 3, 15 in class 4, 10 in class 5 and 15 in class 6.

Speaking during the donation exercise, the project coordinator Trypheana Ndifon Epse Utoneaji said, the goal of the project is based on what has been happening all these while in which many children are not going to school due to the ongoing crisis in the North West and South West Regions of the country as many Internally Displaced Persons, IDPs flee to other communities for the fear of the unknown.

Ndifon added that, the CEO and Founder George Abang Tawoh saw it wise to assist the less privileged and vulnerable of the Tole community to support them for their educa- tion during 2021/2022 school year.

On his part, the representative of the Chief, Yewu Peter appreciated the donor, APWCR, for their prompt gesture to assist parents with didactic materials, as he explained that due to the Anglophone crisis famers in Tole are unable to go to the farm which is their source of their livelihood, they have been pondering on how to send their chil- dren back to school.

He urged the parents to cross-check their

children’s books and encourage their children to go to school while challenging the pupils and

students to study hard and urged other NGOs to emulate.

One of the beneficiaries, Leslie Blaise, Class 6 pupil of Catholic Primary School Sasse, expressed joy for receiving bag, pen and pencil from the donor as their parents can not afford for it.

Darren Joseph primary 3 pupil of Competent Bilingual Primary School echoed same appreciation message to the donor as he explained that their parents struggled to send them to school.

It should be noted, Tole Village in Buea Subdivision has some time now, been hit by separatists’ fighters as activities were grounded and places were deserted, but as of now the environment is relatively calm as places are getting calm.
