Limbe III’s development being - hampered by bad road network Mayor Nseke decries decline of tourism

The Mayor for Limbe III Council in Bimbia Subdivision Mayor Nseke Dibotti Luma has decried the decline in tourism activities in his municipality as a result of the poor road network which has been preventing his municipality to see the light of day.


He re-echoed this clarion call on Friday, November 25, 2022 during Budget Orientation Debate, BOD, at Njalla Quan Sport Complex at Man O’ Bay in Limbe III Subdivision.


“The road from Man O’ War Bay to Dikolo has remained a bone of contention to this municipality. After much water under the bridge, we are finally seeing some actions from the new contractor that we hope will not emulate the poor example of the former”, Mayor Nseke Dibotti said.


Discussing the budget


Speaking during the budget orientation, BOD, organised by Limbe III Council, the Mayo NsekeDibotti said the holding of the BOD falls in line with the State’s policy to accelerate the decentralisation process as enshrined by the legislation in force in section 374(2)and section 40 of Law No. 2019/024 of 24, December 2019 on the general code of regional and authorities.


Mayor Nseke Dibotti added that the BOD that brought together stakeholders and citizens from all

works of life within Limbe III Subdivision is to promote participatory budgeting, to ensure that the actions of the Council are coherent with the expressed needs of the local population to suggest plans to foster the development of the municipality.


Nseke lamented that despite suggestion boxes placed around Mbonjo, O’ Bay, Bimbia, Mabeta, informing Quarter heads, and communication department of the Council suggestion boxes of the BDO were empty.


Presenting the 2023 projects Nseke Debotti cited rehabilitation of Goverment School Man O’ War Bay, Equipping of two Agric posts at Chop Farm and Mabeta, rehabilitation of roads at Bonangombe Layout and Motondo, support to local groups for income generating micro projects, Construction of Health Center at Man O’ War Bay, Equipment support to Vulnerable among others


Meanwhile in 2022 the Council realised some social projects, development of road infrastructures, assistance to vulnerable population, school and health infrastructure, pursuing public-private partnership among others.


The Divisional Delegate for Decentralisation and Local Development Naseri Julius educate the Council and the population on legal frame work of BOD in local Councils.


He added that the introduction of the budget orientation debate gives everyone the opportunity to participate in the budget preparation.


Naseri emphasised that the BOD enable Councillors to back the Mayor during the main budget.


On her part, the Divisional Officer for Limbe III Subdivision EpoleEwane educated the population that the projects they proposed might not necessary be accepted all but will be strictly scrutined before validation.
