The former Quarter Head of New Town East, Gotttfried Mokumu Shalman has offered thanksgiving service on his 80th birthday to thank God for gift of life. The thanksgiving service took place on Friday December 30, 2022 at the Ebenezer Baptist Church Down Beach Limbe.
During the service the servant of God Rev. Ewule John drew his inspiration from Psalm 71:18-19. Captioned Call to proclaim the wonders of God. He said Mokumu Shalman has so many reasons to say Lord, I thank you. He added that God has different assignments he has given everyone.
“He has assigned us in different areas; Preaching, singing, helping the needy, missionary among others. I want to believe Mokumu Shalman was assigned to proclaim the wonders of God through singing that’s why he finds himself in the choir” Rev. Ewule John said.
He added that the proclamation of the wonders of God depends on the relationship the person has created with God. “On our text three things captured my attention, Foundation of David’s believe, challenges and proclamation of the wonders of God”. Rev. Ewule John said.
The servant of God explained that the most important thing parents can do to their children is laying a solid foundation of spiritual discipline of faithfulness, righteousness, humility, patience among others. He lamented that others instead allow their children at home while going to church.
Rev. Ewule John dismissed the fact that once you are a Christian you will not face challenges. He explained that once as you accept Jesus Christ as your Saviour, you are the devil’s target. He encouraged Christians to continue to be steadfast and God will see them through.
On his part the representative of the family head, Mawondo Etutu Shalman said his father inspired not only his children but his family, community Church and everyone around.
Mawondo Etutu opined that 80 years of being alive obviously have values worthy of celebration. “It means so much to us that you have travelled far and near to make it here today to share memories with Lifewire” Mawondo Etutu said. He however identified some qualities of Mokumu Shalman, AKA, Lifewire the caring father, adviser, politician, Christian man, business man, farmer community man.
In her intervention, the Member of Parliament, MP, for Fako East Constituency Hon. Etombi Ikome Gladys said God has smiled on Mokumu Shalman. “Truly the Grace of God is reflecting in his life. We can vividly remember in 1990 after the demise of his wife things were not easy on him, but now we can see the blessings of God on him.” Hon. Etombi Gladys added. The event witnessed the presence of Limbe City Mayor Paul Efome L.M Ngale, Hon. Etombi Ikome Gladys, Hon. Stanley Findi, Mayor Limbe III Council Nseke Dibotti Luma, family, friends and well wishers who all joined Mokumu Shalman to celebrate his birthday.
