Women from all walks of life across the Limbe I municipality, Fako Division of the South West Region, have joined their counterparts the world over to celebrate the 38th edition of the International Women's Day.
The City Mayor to the Limbe City Council, Paul Efome Ngale supported the event in cash and in kind ensuring that the logistics items were provided and installed well ahead of the occasion while encouraging female workers of the City Council to massively participate in all the activities of this year's Women’s Day.
Over 90 women's groups including government services, CSOs/NGOs took part in the International Women’s Day, IWD, in Limbe I under the watchful eyes of the SDO for Fako and wife, the City Mayor for Limbe, the DO for Limbe I and other dignitaries including the GM of SONARA, BEAC among others.
In her speech the Divisional Delegate of Women's Empowerment and the Family Limunga Luma mentioned that the principal sponsor of this 38th edition of the International Women's Day remains the City Council for Limbe which is headed by Paul Efome L.M Ngale.

She added during an interview she granted the press that in as much as others supported the program, the huge success registered this year is as a result of timely action of the City Mayor.
Limunga Luma, said there is a need to support female students to embrace science subjects to break the wide gap between men and women of Science as most women are still lagging behind in the field.
While commending efforts being made by actors in the fight against Gender Based Violence, GBV, like the Gender Desk of the Central Police Station in Limbe, civil societies and female jurists, the delegate urged women to seize the opportunity and embrace the free training for computer literacy ongoing at the Women's Empowerment Centre.
She encouraged women to acquire basic digital knowledge to remain relevant in a continuously competitive society.
The women turned out massively March 8 to celebrate under the theme "For an inclusive digital world, innovations and technology for gender equality. The theme, it should be noted, seeks to open new doors for women as they embrace digitalization as well as support actions against gender inequality for a developed society.
The event in the Limbe I municipality was under the auspices of the Senior Divisional Officer, SDO, for Fako, Chaibou The SDO used the occasion to encourage women of Limbe I to venture deep into the field of technology, saying the state remains positive to accompany them all the way.
"Girls should venture in the field of Science, Technology, Engineering and Management and pick up careers there Limunga said. The Mayor of Limbe I Council, Mbwaye Eposi Florence encouraged teachers to support female students to embrace science subjects for seriously.
Special gifts were handed to the SDO and wife, as the couple was celebrating with women of Limbe I for the first time.
Prize were also handed to victorious women’s groups in the various sports and socio-cultural activities marking the celebration.
The member of parliament, MP for Fako East, Hon. Etombi Gladys, recognised some women for their effort in the developing the municipality economically. The distinguished women were handed awards and cash prizes of FCFA 50,000 each.
It should be noted that over 300 women were trained in various skill building activities during the week long program in order to encourage themselves to become self employ. At the end 5 IDPs were granted startup capital.
Thee second part of the celebration witnessed a colorful March past from various women’s group across Limbe I.
