Cameroon can Develop through volunteerism-Isaac Ekombe SWR Delegate MINJEC

The regional delegate of Youth Affairs and Civic Education for the South West Isaac Ekombe Mbua says, it is only through voluntary activities carried out by the youths that Cameroon can develop.


The representative of the Youth Affairs and Civic Education made this statement on Monday December 5, 2022 during activities to commemorate this year’s edition of International Volunteering Day. dubbed; "Together let's act now"


Isaac Ekombe stated that, the celebration started few days back with on-Campus sensitisation, campaign against HIV and AIDS , Zero cholera, Eco jogging, seminar on volunteerism, award of attestation among others.


As representative of the Minister of Youth Affairs and Civic Education Isaac Ekombe affirmed that "the notion of volunteering is not new, but most people are not aware of it, so it was decided that it should be celebrated Internationally today,”


“As the ministry which is responsible for this particular domain, has delegated me to be here. You must have realised that I’m here with my collaborators not only that, equally with nine civil society Organisations and all of the came here with their members.” Ekombe Mbua explained.


He added that, they celebrated peace. He emphasised that, volunteering activities is very paramount in the society.


“We must continue to abide and coquet this particular idea in various communities that we are less more of ambassador of this notion, so it shouldn’t end with us. Let us take it back to our communities.


On his part, Sam Nloin Sukpa CEO of Buea-Based NGO, known as Clean Water and Sanitation Africa with aim at ensuring proper hygiene and sanitation and environmental protection and community development, said volunteering is a life style.


He added that, over the years, they have been engaging in volunteering activities but now they thought it wise to collaborate with MINJEC South West Region.


Nloin said volunteering and peace are very vital in our society now. He urged the population to join them in carrying out volunteering activities to build the community.


Meanwhile other speakers like Nkabeng Leo, CWASAF, Volunteer explained that in the society volunteering in the communities helps to build social network, capacity building, creativity among others. He urged the youths to take volunteerism seriously in order to foster the communities goals.
