HOFA-CEO/Founder, Sarah-Derval Lifanda, succors school children in Bimbia with didactic materials

Hope of Africa (HOFA) a humanitarian initiative led by its Founder Sarah-Derval Lifanda on Saturday, September 5, 2026, supported over 100 pupils and students in Bimbia village with back-to-school materials in its second edition at home. 

The donation which took place in Man-O-War Bay, Bimbia, Limbe III Subdivision, saw pupils going home with books, school bags and other didactic materials to facilitate effective school resumption for the 2026/2027 academic year. 

Speaking during the event, Sarah-Derval Lifanda said the initiative was born out of the current situation in the South West Region, where many families have been displaced and have lost their livelihoods. 

“This initiative was born because of the current situation of our region. We knew a lot of people had been displaced, had lost livelihood and needed support”, 

“We have been doing it in other areas, including Buea, but as from last year we decided to bring it back home”, This is the second edition in Bimbia. It is a way of encouraging the young ones that education is and will always be the key," she said. 

Derval expressed gratitude to indigenes of Bimbia and other supporters from across Cameroon who supported the initiative, as well as to her team and volunteers. 

She noted that although the organization had planned for 52 children, close to 78 children eventually turned up, but all went home smiling as provisions had been made for extra beneficiaries. 

 “I see that the younger ones still have the zeal and desire for education, and that is our push. It is now our responsibility to push them forward to help them achieve their dreams," she added. 

She extended special appreciation to the Bimbia community, the Chief for his continuous support to ensure his people are not left behind, and to her sister from Improf for standing by the initiative. 

Sarah-Delval Lifanda also acknowledged her generous donors whose contributions made the edition a success. 

They include Sango Siegfried M. Lifanda, Nyango Lucy Eliva, Nyango Ndongo Quan, Nyango Alice Nako, Sango Pastor Njaba, Rev. Dr. ICE, Sango Kodjo Manga, Nyango Ejomi Kofele Bessem, George Mangeh, General Bome Sone, Edith Ekumdime and Richard Mokake, alongside the entire Hope of Africa team, A sister and friend from MINPROFF among others. 

She disclosed that plans are underway to expand the scope of the project next year to include not only school support but also skills acquisition for youths who are not in school. 

In his intervention, the Chief of Bonangombe village, Kinge Victor Musuka III, expressed joy with the donation given by a native of Bonangombe village, Sarah-Derval Ephosi Lifanda. 

He told the parents who accompanied the schoolchildren to make maximum use of the didactic materials. “Don’t misuse this donation. I can attest to the importance of didactic materials in the life of a school child.” HRM Kinge Victor said. 

Parents of the beneficiaries thanked HOFA for this maiden donation in assisting them to send their children back-to-school with didactic materials at a time when they are faced with hardship.
