Higher Institute of Computer and Information and Technology, HICIT, Buea has launched a software system known as National Online System of Examination Management (Nosem) software to help evaluate students online without using a piece of paper.

The launching exercise took place on Wednesday January 25, 2023 at their school campus in Buea.
Speaking during the event, the Proprietor of the institution Ekombe Franklin said; they set the questions in the system, upload notes, the students answer on the same platform.
He added that not only multiple choice but essay formate. The teachers mark there and the result is published there.
During the process of marking you don't see any body's name, it is been decoded completely. At the end of it all, we actually have a system which is very transparent.
According to Ekombe Franklin, there is no reason why a script of a student can be missing, the cost of transportation of teacher from one end to the other is limited, the students themselves have asses to the fact that their answers are actually good and the teachers have no bais in marking.
“This is because while marking, the computer first premark, the teachers now moderate so that it should not be a case where the computer is looking for one straight answers without the other” Ekombe Franklin added.
Quizzed what what motivated him to develop the software, he explained that he decided to create something that people will learn to type, they will get familiar with the web, browse the internet, apply for international jobs online and be able to write other things on the cloud and be able to be that programmer they want to be.
Ekombe Franklin opined that, he is helping the State to have computer experts people to better Cameroon in line with President Paul Biya Vision 2035 Computerized age. HICIT Proprietor explained that one of the difficulty he forecast is internet providers, because some times you work and the connections goes off.
He opined that, the solution is to have intranet and equally teacher without computer server will find it difficult to carry on the process.
“Many people say they are doing computer, they are actually practicing the computer in theory, but not in practice. So they go to the field, they sell themselves better than you who is doing the job. So these are the problems we face in the field“,
“So I decided to take my step even with the few I have tido something different. If you want to learn computer, I will advise you, is only one institution in Buea”,
“You can come and you will know it to your finger tip, because we do not do computer we practice computer.” Ekombe Franklin averred.

Speaking shortly after the launching exercise a student of HICIT Bebula George said; I can testify I have never seen this software before. I have never seen a system where students are opportune to write their exams online and it is marked online and given to them online there and then. I will say this is a very renowned and pronounced step into digitalizing exams and examinations in Cameroon.
Bebula added that the system is good and that when the exams are been written, either in multiple choice or essay, it is marked on spot and the results are given on spot. On the menu strip, you can see all your exams you have written and your mark’s given.
Quizzed about the benefit of the software as a student consideration the difficulties he has been facing in the past, he explained it will reduce the lapses of realm of papers.
“As a student you don't need to ask for supplementary sheet, they dont need to tell you paper is finish they dont have to tell you they need to go and reprint question sheets because it is finsh. So you just get to see everything online, and online does not fail”,
“Google cloud does not fail so you just get to see everything online and type and write and your result is given there on the spot.” Bebula George explained.
