FAWONE Limbe I chapter awards scholarships over 20 meritorious schoolchildren
Fako Women N’Endinge (FAWONE) Limbe I Chapter has awarded scholarships to 20 meritorious schoolchildren of Limbe I Subdivision in a ceremony dedicated to celebrate excellence at the base and glorifying God.
The event, organized by FAWONE Limbe I chapter under the leadership of the Limbe I chapter President, Madam Christiana, saw the recognition of pupils selected on merit for their academic performance.
In her address, President Christiana said the chapter decided to bring excellence celebration down to the primary level to groom future leaders.
“We are here to award scholarships to people of Limbe I Subdivision because our chapter is in Limbe I Subdivision. So we got 20 pupils of merit and you just saw what happened.” Etondi Christiana
said.
According to her, this year's objective for Limbe I was to award excellence and raise holistic children. "We want to leave able Fako children, children who are disciplined, children who are obedient and holistic.” Etondi Christina added.
The President expressed gratitude to members of FAWONE Limbe I, the Exco, and the Project Coordinator for their hard work in making the event a success, and to Fako sons and supporters who responded to their appeal.
“Our objective of Limbe I this year was to award excellence. I want to appreciate all the Fako women in Limbe I Subdivision, they did so well. If this occasion took place it is thanks to them and we also want to appreciate the able Exco of FAWONE Limbe I chapter.
Then we want to appreciate some of our Fako brothers who came out to support this after we gave out appeal. We glorify God and thank you for covering this event," she concluded.
According to the project coordinator, the initiative was inspired by the higher-level awards organized the previous day by Founda Global, which honoured Form Five students who excelled in the GCE Ordinary and Advanced Levels.
“Fako women are grateful for students who are intelligent. We celebrated excellence a few minutes ago. We want Fako to go ahead. Just like how Founda Global did yesterday at the higher level, they awarded prizes to students of Form 5 who passed well the GCE Ordinary and Advanced Level”,
“So we decided to go down and we started at the base. We want to groom these children so that they can go higher and higher.” Iya Imbole Namange Njiki noted.
On her part, Nalova Martin encouraged the children to stay away from friends who distract them from their study. She urged them to focus on developing themselves and prepare themselves for future dreams.
“My dear children, stay away from friends that distract you from your study and concentrate on your book work so as to achieve your dreams” Nalova Martin said.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, a pupil identified as Marvelous thanked the Fako Women for encouraging learning.
“Thank you for encouraging us to learn. This award will help us to buy books and give us courage to learn harder," she said. The young beneficiary, speaking humbly, pledged to live up to the expectations placed on them.
“We promise to work harder, respect our parents and be of good conduct, and to make Fako Division proud," Marvelous said. She also offered prayers for the continuity of the initiative.
“We also pray that God should bless Fako Women with more resources so that next year they can award more children. Thank you very much," she said.
The scholarship award is part of FAWONE’s broader vision to promote education, discipline and holistic development of the Fako child from the grassroots.
It should be noted that Iya Eye foundation also supported FAWONE Limbe I chapter with didactic materials to facilitate back-to-school for children in Limbe municipality.
