BY SIMON NDIVE KALLA

Barrister Yoland Ngo who is the Secretary General at the Cameroon Bar Association and the President Barrister Mbah Eric Mbah say they are planning to organise a workshop to educate female lawyers against sex harassment by fellow lawyers and magistrate.

They made this remarks on Wednesday March 1, 2023 in Limbe at Holiday inn Hotel during a one-day workshop of female Lawyers across Fako Division as they gathered in Limbe for the launch of the Female Lawyers Women’s Month Activities.

Barrister Yoland told her younger female colleagues that for her 23 years of practice, she had never faced any sexual harassment.

She said for them to be free and keep such unwarranted advances in check, they should stay focused in their profession and strive to be able to be lawyers who do deliver. She said once a Magistrate knows that a female lawyer is worth her calling and delivery well, such a magistrate will seize to make such unprofessional advances.

And as one of Cameroon’s most successful female lawyers at just 46, she said her success has come from hard work and her never ceasing determination to be ambitious.

“I urge you to be hard working, always be ambitious and have your self-confidence that you, like then men, can do it. Don’t put any barriers before you. Know that once, you are a female lawyer, you are already a leader. You don’t have to be afraid. Break the barriers and strive for success,” Barrister Yoland said.

She promised to work with the Bar President to organize a future session where the younger female lawyers can be coached or mentored on how to better succeed in the careers.
