At budget orientation: Tiko Mayor Peter Mesoso III announces construction of 5 -star hotel

The Mayor of Tiko Council, HRH Chief Peter Ikome Mesoso III says the Council intends to build 5-star edifice hotel in his municipality.


He made this revelation on Friday November 11, 2022 during the 2023 budget orientation debate tagged ‘Welfare Budget’.


Quizzed why the focus on the hotel project, Chief Peter Ikome said, “I think with the rehabilitation of the airport, is going to create an influx of the population in different areas those who are coming to bought planes to travel they’ll need to be based in Tiko if they have to lodge so, they can easily cash up their fleet”,

”With the coming of the seaport and finishing port, there’s a need for us to have this hotel because if you look around the municipality, we don’t have that kind of structure. So the project is paramount to our municipality” Chief Peter Ikome explained.


Enter budget orientation


Speaking during the budget orientation, BOD, organized by Tiko Council, the Mayor of Tiko Council Chief, Peter Ikome said the holding of the BOD falls in line with the State’s policy to accelerate the decentralization process as enshrined by the legislation in force in section 374(2)and section 40 of Law No. 2019/024 of 24, December 2019 on the general code of regional and authorities.

Chief Peter Ikome added that the BOD brought together stakeholders and citizens from all works of life within Tiko Municipality to suggest plans to foster the development of the municipality.


“This is another opportunity given to the people to express their opinions in lines with the municipality’s budget” Chief Peter Ikome said.


He lamented that the session is often ignored by denizens of Tiko Municipality which of course is a major error in the life and future of the Municipality.


Mayor Peter Ikome opined that the BOD gives them the opportunity to achieve four main things namely; the evaluation of the revenue and expenditure of the municipality, evaluation of the budget balance, that is, know if the budget will be viable and accessing debt levels of Council, planning and programming of Council.


Presenting the proposed draft budget to the population for 2023 fiscal year, he said the budget stands at One billions, six hundred and seventy million, six hundred and ninety thousand FCFA( 1.677.690.000 balance in both revenue and expenditure at 52.7% of investment such as ; Personnel, fuel day to day running.


Mayor Peter Ikome is of the opinion that the budget is geared toward providing of portable water, improvising living condition of the population, tarring of roads, rehabilitation of schools/health center, construction of roads, assistance to the needy among others.


The Divisional Delegate for Decentralization and Local Development Naseri Julius schooled the Council and the population on legal frame work of BOD in local Councils.

On her part, the Secretary General of Tiko Council Lovejoy Eri Ita Epouse Tatason highlighted the Council’s prospect for 2023 economic and social plans carried out so far.


Meanwhile Chief Ndedi Molyko Yves presented a positive report card of the Mayor’s realizations which was applauded by the population and stakeholders.


The BOD equally served as an opportunity for the Mayor to donate farming equipments to some cooperative groups in Tiko Municipality. The items included; 3 grinding mill machines , 10 spraying cans, fertilizers and farming chemicals among others.

Quizzed why this donation, Chief Peter Ikome stressed that the move is to reduce the cost of production of these farmers in order to reduce the cost of goods in the market.
